Assignments getting you down? There’s only so much work anyone can do, and sooner or later each of us needs to draw the line and take a break. If you’re looking for an affordable and memorable time away from the hustle and bustle of London, look no further than these destinations for your next getaway!

1. Leeds: The UK’s party uni has a well-earned reputation. Grab a bus ticket for as low as £8, sit out the five hours’ journey and prepare yourself for a weekend of fun. Top of the list has got to be Fruity, the club on campus, where entry is only £4 and drinks are much the same price. The list of things to do here is almost endless. Feel like a 50s mobster at the boozy Smokestack in town, belt out the classics at Mix Karaoke near the uni campus and recover the next day with a full English at the reasonably priced Library pub near Woodhouse Moor.

 2. Warwick: If your idea of a getaway is less clubbing and more museums, Warwick is the place for you. Coach tickets start at £10 and there’s loads to do. The Warwick Town Trail takes in plenty of historic sights and is absolutely free; just follow the pavement markers. Entry to the castle is a little pricey at £27, but it’s down to £18 if you book online. Follow up with great, more affordable food and drink at the Rose & Crown pub nearby.

3. Brighton: National Express offers regular service at prices as low as £4, not to mention getting you there in only two and a quarter hours. The Hobgoblin comes highly recommended from students who go to uni down there: it’s a cross between a pub and a club, with plenty of student discounts on offer. A sunset walk on the beach is always free and admission to the famous Royal Pavilion is a reasonable £12 for students. If you’re feeling hungry, head to the Gladstone pub and restaurant near the uni campus. This bright yellow building is something of a local landmark where drinks are excellent and reasonably priced. Eat in the beautiful beer garden for the best experience!

 4. Canterbury: As you might expect from a university town, there’s plenty on offer for students down in Canterbury, and it’s just a £7 bus ride away. I can personally recommend the Foundry Brew Pub for its stellar ale (don’t miss the Street Light porter, but go easy on it!) and amazing food. Prices aren’t the cheapest in town though, so if you’re really looking to save every penny, try the Buttermarket pub. History buffs can tour the iconic Canterbury Cathedral at only £10.50 and then finish up with delicious, affordable ice cream from Kaspa’s café on the High Street – even on a night out with your Canterbury friends since it’s open until 11 PM!

Getting out of the city on a budget has never been so easy! Whether you’re after nights out or pub lunches, make your next trip to one of these destinations for a great time that’s as good for your bank account as it is for your stress levels!
